Veteran Neil Harris (Southborough & Dist. Whs) tasted success on his first outing of the season in the East Sussex CA 25, while Sally Turner (trainSharp) posted a personal best on her way to winning the women’s event.
Harris, aged 40, won last year on the G25/89 and was victor once again posting a winning time of 51 minutes and 40 seconds – 41 seconds clear of his nearest rival.
The G25/89 saw riders start and finish near Maresfield before traveling out and back on the A22 down to Hailsham.
Harris won the East Sussex CA 25 on his last outing of 2021 in September and again took victory away from the event.
A close battle for second saw Matthew Smith (Team TMC) finish in second clocking 52-21 which was 14 seconds quicker than veteran Justin Webb ( ...a3crg) (52-35).
In the women’s event veteran rider Turner, aged 42, clocked a time of 57 minutes and five seconds in her first open 25 of the season.
The previous day Turner also won the East Sussex CA 10 on a similar course and was once again triumphant.
Leading the charge behind was Lisa Davies (Drag2Zero) who finished second in 59-53 while Kate Thomas (Lewes Wanderers CC) finished third (1-02-57).
