Pat Wright (Paceline RT) took victory by 23 seconds in the Southern Counties CU 25, while Francesca Smith (Clapham Chasers) was the women’s winner.
Wright, aged 37, from Little Bookham, recorded a winning time of 56 minutes and nine seconds over the rolling course.
The G25/55 saw riders start and finish near South Holmwood starting on the fast A24 for an out and back section.
Competitors then turned onto the A29 through the Surrey Hill completing a big loop out to Kingsfold and then a smaller loop before returning on the A24 to South Holmwood.
It was a chilly start with a temperature of around minus one degree at the start.
This perhaps caused the flurry of non-starters but it did not deter from the morning producing some quick times on both road bikes and time trial machines.
The course provided a stiff test with plenty of climbing and poor road surfaces on the lanes.
The sections of dual carriageway on the A24 allowed some respite and for average speeds to increase before the lanes hampered times again.
Wright opened his season with a victory at the Maidenhead & District CC 29.5 last month and was again winner on this occasion.
Jack Roe (London Dynamo) provided tough competition for Wright but settled for second position 23 seconds back in 56-32.
James Kessel (Clapham Chasers) had a late start penalty but his time of 58-21 was still enough to clinch third placed.
Spindata had predicted a win for Wright in 54-03 but the cold conditions meant his actual time was two minutes slower.
Quickest veteran on scratch was Dylan Coyne (Balcombe Cycle Club) whose time of 1-02-41 was good enough for fourth place overall.
Meanwhile, in the women’s event Smith was the only competitor and completed the course in a time of 1-07-19.
Smith was taking part in her first open time trial event and her time was enough for eighth place in the time trial event.
The road bike event was equally as close with Mark Aldred (Kingston Wheelers CC) taking the victory in a time of 58-26 on his first outing of the season.
Nick Tyrie (Primera-Teamjobs) was a close second finishing 44 seconds down in 59-10.
Fastest veteran was Richard Cartland (HuntBikeWheels.com) who completed the podium positions taking third overall in (1-01-51).
There were no entries in the women’s road bike category.
