Jari Verstraeten (Team Bottrill) broke the course record on his way to a second win of the weekend at the Southern Counties CU Sporting Weekend over the 25-mile distance, while Katie Simmonds (Horsham Cycling) won the women’s event.
After breaking the course record in the 10-mile event the previous day Verstraeten, in Surrey and Sussex for a long weekend, recorded another course record knocking 71 seconds off Pat Wright’s 2017 benchmark with a winning time of 53 minutes and 53 seconds.
