Alastair Ribbands (Congleton CC) took victory by almost a minute in the Warrington Road Club 47 to win the Harry Barker Memorial, while team-mate Lucy Rogers won the women’s event and was quickest veteran on standard.
Ribbands, from Altrincham, took his seventh win of the season recording a winning time of one hour, 41 minutes and 50 seconds on the reduced course.
The J4/9 was reduced to 47 miles on the day due to roadworks on the original and alternative course.
Riders were able to enjoy good weather conditions returning some impressive times on the short course of 47 miles.
Competitors completed three-and-a-half laps of a course starting at Cranage before heading out on the A50 and B5082 towards Northwich and then back south on the A530 back towards Middlewich and then Cranage to complete a lap.
Ribbands, aged 39, also won the Manchester & District TTA 25 earlier this month was once again victorious recording an average speed of over 27.6 miles per hour on his way to victory.
A close battle for second saw Alexander Royle (Manchester Bicycle Club) finish just 58 seconds down on the winner while Andy Wright (Total Tri Training) was a further six seconds back in third (1-42-54).
Quickest veteran on scratch was Alan Chorley (Seamons CC) in 1-44-33 taking fourth overall but second on standard in +25.29 beaten by women’s overall winner Rogers (+28.52) who won the ES Ward Memorial Championship Cup.
David Parkin (Chorley Cycling Club) was the quickest in the men’s road bike competition in 1-44-00 finishing ahead of James Griffiths (Velotik Racing Team) in second (1-50-31) and Matthew Welsh (Graham Weigh Racing – Deeside Olympic) who clocked 1-54-21.
Veteran rider Rogers, aged 52, continued her impressive season with another victory completing the course in 1-55-02.
Rogers also won on a similar course in the Manchester & District TTA last weekend and led a Congleton CC clean sweep of the podium positions.
Fellow veteran Natasha Smith and team-mate finished second in 2-04-36 ahead of another Congleton CC rider Lynsey Astles in third (2-09-32).
