Congleton CC’s Lucy Rogers was fastest female, while team-mate Alastair Ribbands was quickest man at the Manchester and District TTA 10-mile time trial in Cheshire on Saturday.
48-year-old Rogers had also won on the same J4/20 course the week before and took second a fortnight ago. This time she clocked 24-04 to finish as fastest woman was 1-40 from another Congleton CC rider Alice Taylor, while third was Emma Jeffers (JRC Interflon RT).
It was closer in the men’s event, with junior Harry Jordan (Otley CC) just being pipped for the overall win by Ribbands who clocked 21-14.
Jordan was just 13 seconds slower in second, while the men’s podium was finished by Tony Greenhalgh (Tactic Sport UK RT) with 21-55.
The best of the juveniles was Nicholas Smith (Westmead Team 88) with 27-54, while top veteran on standard was Lucy Rogers, the fastest female having a plus on age standard on 5-37.
It was a bright but windy afternoon on the B4/20, with riders tackling the popular course which takes them from a start just to the east of Byley, over the M6 to Cranage and up the A50 through Allostock to Toft, where they turn back down through Lower Peover and to a finish just beyond Swan Green before the M6.
Just outside the podium spots, Seamons CC rider Stephen Dooley was fourth in 22-05, while Mark Chadwick (Wigan Wheelers) was another four seconds back in fifth.
And in the women’s event Stockport Tri Club’s Amanda Skelton took fourth with 29-58, behind the top three of Rogers, Taylor and Jeffers, while fifth went to Lucinda Beeson (Univ of Manchester CC).
