Jack Levick (Rose Race Team) was the frontrunner in the Manchester & District TTA 10-mile time trial, while Lucy Rogers (Congleton CC) was the winner of the women’s event.
24-year-old Levick clocked a time of exactly 20:00 to win, which was just seven seconds outside the course record.
A minute slower was Alastair Ribbands (Congleton CC) completing the course in 21:00 to finish second and the final podium spot was won by Kouros Driscoll (Seamons CC) who clocked in at 21:17.
This was the first open event of the season for Levick who ended last season with an array of wins before competing in the National 25- and 50-mile Championship events. Being somewhat of a longer distance specialist it is a nice start to the season to claim a victory over the shorter 10-mile distance.
In the women’s event it was Lucy Rogers who finished fastest, riding around the J4/20 course in 23:52.
Second place was claimed by Alice Taylor (Congleton CC) who clocked 25:24 and third was Lynsey Astles of the same team to make it a Congleton CC 1-2-3. She rode a time of 26:33.
Rogers had been out riding in an open event last weekend to get her season off to a start where she finished second, again over a 10-mile distance, though last week she finished in 25:19, so this week improved on position and pace to come out on top in only her second showing of 2022.
