Scratch rider Liam Bard (GTR - Return to Life P/B Streamline) took victory by over a minute in the Cranbrook CC 10, while Martina Geraghty (Penzance Wheelers CC) set a new course record on her way to winning the women’s event.
Geraghty, aged 52, set a new benchmark time of 25 minutes and 23 seconds with the top three women all beating the previous record of 26-53.
The S26R sees riders compete on an ‘out and back and out again’ course using sporting roads between Honiton and Patteson’s Cross.
Starting near Honiton riders then join the B3177 riders travelled for two miles through Fenny Bridges to Patteson’s Cross before turning at a triangle junction and then making the return journey.
Conditions were favourable for competitors with a tailwind on two of the three legs which make up the course.
However, the course is fairly sporting with rolling roads and several junctions for competitors to navigate.
Geraghty and Bard also won the North Devon Wheelers 22 last weekend and added another victory to their collections.
Adding a course record to her win Geraghty finished 36 seconds clear of her nearest challenger, which was Alice Lake, riding for host club Cranbrook Cycle Club, who finished second in 25-59.
Completing the podium positions was Hannah Rainger (Plymouth Corinthian CC) finishing third in 26-29.
Meanwhile, in the men’s event Bard took his third victory of the season clocking a winning time of 20-49 which was over a minute clear of his challengers.
Alexander Ballinger (George Fox Cycling Solutions) led the battle behind taking a season’s best second position in 21.51.
Meanwhile, junior rider Sam Beaton (Plymouth Corinthian CC) finished in a fine third place covering the course in 22-37.
