Amber Harding (Exeter Tri Club) and Tim McEvoy (FTP Racing) powered to victory at the Mid-Devon CC 50-mile event, which was also the South West District Championships near Buckfastleigh on Sunday.
Bodmin-based McEvoy, the 43-year-old who rides for FTP Fulfil the Potential Racing, clocked 1-47-35 to win by over five minutes over a course which had to be revised on the day because of road works.
It instead was a four-lap course from Buckfastleigh to Goodstone and back.
His time was 5-22 ahead of Mid-Devon CC’s Don Brooks in second, while Lubos Obornik (CS Dynamo) was another 1-48 behind in third.
Exeter Triathlon Club’s Amber Harding took the women’s crown with a time of 1-58-59, giving the 22-year-old victory by a comfortable margin of 16-31 from Angharad Berriman (Penzance Wheelers) with Alice Lake (Cranbrook CC) third quickest in 2-17-06.
It was an undulating course run in cool weather with a slight headwind to the turn.
McEvoy has been focusing on triathlons this season and has ridden just one other time trial in 2022. He won the Plymouth Corinthian CC 16-mile event in mid-March, and is hoping to next be in action in a CTT event on May 29 at the Hounslow and District Wheelers 100 in Hampshire.
Harding was recording her second consecutive victory of the season so far, with 2022 shaping up nicely for the 22-year-old.
She was part of the team that finished second in the Bath university CC three-up event in March, and went on to place second in the BUCS 25-Mile Championships on April 3.
More recently she was victorious at the Melton Olympic 10-mile event on April 9, before taking victory in the South West District Championships today.
