Andrew Jason and Rose Willis triumphed in the men’s and women’s time trials amid temperatures as low as -4° at Penzance Wheelers 10 on Sunday morning.
City Cycle Couriers rider Jason finished in 22-48, beating Giant’s James Grogan by 14 seconds with Chris Vellacott (Royal Navy and Royal Marines CA) recording 23-51 for third place.
In the women’s event Willis (St Austell’s Wheelers) managed 27-28 having also finished as fastest woman at the Saint Piran 10 in her last race on March 6.
Fastest junior went to Felix Whetter from Mid-Devon CC in 23-33, while Wheal Velocity’s Luke Matthews recorded 26-44 to finish as first place juvenile and his clubmate Oliver Wade won the road bike category in 24-30.
Having managed a third place finish at Plymouth Corinthians CC 16-mile TT on March 13, victory will give Jason confidence ahead of a planned entry into the Welsh CA on May 1.
The ten-mile course, on route S6/10, involves heading out northeastwards from the entrance to Trecurno and towards Ladock and Newmills, before looping back and retracing the route back past Newmills then Ladock to the finish.
In the 2Up event, Nigel Polkinghorne and Tom Smith were fastest men while Beth Berriman and Martina Geraghty were fastest women, with the full report available on the CTT website.
