Adam Duggleby

Adam Duggleby took an eleventh win of the season, beating his nearest competitor by three minutes in the Yorkshire Road Club 25, while Helen Goldthorpe (Otley CC) won the women’s event on Saturday.

The 37-year-old posted a winning time of 50 minutes and 44 seconds near Boroughbridge in North Yorkshire to take a convincing win.

The V235 saw competitors start outside the Rabbit Hill Business Park before heading south on the A168, which runs alongside the A1, competing down to the Walshford roundabout.

Competitors then headed north past the start/finish to the outskirts of Boroughbridge to complete a full out and back lap after 15 miles.

Riders continued south to the Walshford roundabout before finishing shortly after passing opposite the start.

Course conditions were mostly dry with a northerly wind and light drizzle for the later riders.

Scratch rider Duggleby, from Leeds, won the Seacroft Wheelers 10 last weekend and added another win to his collection this time out – recording an average speed of over 29.56 miles per hour.

Helen Goldthorpe

Quickest veteran on scratch Mark Wolstenholme (Swift Racing) finished third last weekend in the Seacroft event but went one better this weekend stopping the clock in 53-45 for second.

A close battle for third saw Andrew Miller (Chapeau! Vive Le Velo) record a time of 56-03 a single second faster than Matthew Asquith (Otley CC) with Richard Dean (Trek Sheffield) a further four seconds back (56-08).

Spindata had predicted a win for Duggleby in 52-07 but he knocked a minute and 23 seconds off that time.

In the women’s event 44-year-old Goldthorpe was a clear winner recording a winning time of one hour, five minutes and 55 seconds.

On the same course last month Goldthorpe finished second in the Yorkshire Cycling Federation 25 going slightly quicker (1-05-31) on that occasion.

Sue Cheetham (North Lancashire Road Club) finished second in 1-08-31 while Liz Ball (Valley Striders Cycling Club) completed the podium positions in third (1-10-45).

The road bike event saw Jemil Tokdemir (Team ASL-Bolton) take victory in 1-02-21 ahead of Andrew Lambe (Ilkley CC) in second (1-06-17) while David Marshall (Hemel Hempstead CC) was the final finisher in third (1-14-15).
