Chapeau! Vive Le Velo team-mates Adam Duggleby and Fiona Sharp won the men’s and women’s events in the City Road Club (Hull) 25 on Saturday evening.
Duggleby, aged 37 and from Leeds, recorded his fourth individual open time trial victory of the season in a time of 49 minutes and 32 seconds.
It was the second time the V734 has been used with Duggleby also winning the same event last season clocking 49-00 on that occasion.
The V734 sees riders start outside Gilberdyke, near Hull, before heading out on the B1230 to Horden and then A614 to Holme on Spalding Moor and then making the return journey.
Good and dry conditions greeted riders with only a light wind to battle against.
Duggleby also won the Vive Le Velo 25 last month in the same time (49-32) and was again victorious recording an average speed of over 30.2 miles per hour.
On his first open time trial outing of the season under-23 rider George Wood (Cycling Sheffield) finished second on this occasion clocking 50-14.
Quickest veteran on scratch Melvin Blackford (Vive Le Velo) led the battle for third finishing in 55-42 which was 27 seconds faster than fellow veteran Neil Cleminshaw (Chapeau! Vive Le Velo).
Fastest junior rider was Will Trevor (Jem Hadar Racing) who completed the course in 1-07-25.
In the women’s event veteran rider Sharp, from Hayton near York, recorded a winning time of 59-21 which was comfortably enough for victory.
In her only other open time trial event this season Sharp finished second in the Cambridge CC 15, but she was not to be denied this time out.
Fellow veteran Joanna Cebrat (Bury Clarion CC) finished second in 1-02-56 while Beth Grogan (Selby CC) completed the podium positions in 1-03-50.
“It was nice to get the win but wasn’t a perfect race for me,” said Sharp.
“It was my first-time racing on the course which is quite local to me. It’s a good course which is very flat which doesn’t have much traffic.
“It’s a B-road course so I was pleased to get under the hour.”
