Jack Levick

Jack Levick (Rose Race Team) and Emily Martin (Weaver Valley CC) stormed to victories in the men’s and women’s events respectively at the Drighlington BC 25, both finishing around two minutes quicker than their nearest rivals.

Scratch rider Levick has had a formidable start to his 2022 campaign with five wins from six events and once again tasted victory, completing the course in 48 minutes and 27 seconds.

Levick, who turns 25 on Tuesday, was the only rider to break the 50-minute barrier finishing 1-54 clear of his nearest competitor.

The V232/1 saw riders start and finish near Dishforth before competing along the A19 in North Yorkshire with a steady climb towards the turn at Knayton before making the return journey.

Levick suffered his only defeat this season in the Darlington CC road bike 25-mile event clocking 50-48, but on his time trial bike he knocked over two minutes off that time to take a clear win.

Emily Martin

Junior rider Alex Beldon (Team Bottrill) continued his rise to fame with a respectable second placed finish on his first open outing of 2022 clocking 50-21.

Leading the battle for third was veteran Darren Yarwood (Chapeau! Vive Le Velo) whose time of 51-05 was just nine seconds quicker than Sam Taylor (Weaver Valley CC) 51-14.

Spindata had predicted a victory for Levick in 48-54 but in reality he was 27 seconds faster.

Meanwhile, in the women’s event Martin was an equally as impressive winner with her time of 55-51 over two minutes faster than her nearest competitor.

Martin opened her season with a second placed finish at the Macclesfield Wheelers 25 last month and she went one better on this occasion taking her first victory of the campaign.

Josie Smith (Trek Sheffield) let the battle behind finishing second in 57-57 while quickest veteran Karen Taylor (Team Sportslab) completed the podium positions in third (1-03-38).

Spindata had forecasted a victory for Martin in 56-08 and despite it only being her second open outing of the season Martin went 17 seconds faster in reality.
