Vive Le Velo-supported riders Louise Scupham and Adam Duggleby took victories in their club’s first open 10-mile event of the season.
Both riders had tough competition in the women’s and men’s events respectively but battled their way to victories.
Duggleby, aged 37 and from Leeds, took his first individual victory of the season clocking a time of 19 minutes and 16 seconds which was 22 seconds faster than his nearest rival.
The V7113 saw riders start on Arras Hill before travelling around Market Weighton and then completing a triangle before making the return journey.
A very cold start did not keep the riders away and one of Yorkshire’s faster courses provided the quick times promised.
Riding for Chapeau! Vive Le Velo it was Duggleby’s second win of the season after also taking the Bristol South Cycling Club 25 with his tandem partner last weekend.
He faced tough competition from George Peden (Team PB Performance) who after winning the Darlington CC 25 last weekend had to settle for second this time out just 22 seconds down in 19-38.
Spindata had predicted an opposite result, but Duggleby showed his form in reality to take the victory.
Local time trial stalwart John Brearley (Squadra RT) rounded off the podium with a 20:35.
Fastest veteran on scratch was Darren Yarwood, also of host club Chapeau! Vive Le Velo, who clocked 21-07 just three seconds faster than Julian Ramsbottom (Team Bottrill).
Quickest paracyclist was Ben Watson (Para-T) in 22-12 while Callum Watson (East Bradford CC) was best junior clocking 23-45.
The women’s event was won by Jadan-Vive le Velo rider Scupham who completed a second open time trial win of the season in 23-24.
Scupham also won the West Pennine RC hilly event last month and showed her speed over the flatter terrain on this occasion.
Josie Smith (Trek Sheffield) pushed Scupham all the way but had to settle for second 15 seconds down in 23-39.
Quickest veteran was Susan Sanders (Drighlington BC) in 26-59.
The road bike category is trying to attract new riders to the sport and bring older riders back from retirement.
John Blomeley (Yorkshire Road Club) shot round in 23-07 to take the men’s prize. The women’s prize went to Marjorie Davison (Ravensthorpe CC) with 32-24.
