Finlay Tarling

Finlay Tarling set a new juvenile competition record of 18-15 to win the Icknield Road Club 10-mile time trial in Hertfordshire, while Georgie Little triumphed in the women’s event on Saturday.

The 15-year-old Flanders Color Galloo Team rider lowered the juvenile 10-mile record previously set by his brother Joshua by a full 40 seconds to continue a fine season, a day before winning the National Youth Championships the following day.

Second place was taken by WattShop’s Alan Murchison, known for his work as The Performance Chef, in 18-45, with third place going to Oliver Bridgewood of Bath Cycling Club in 19-04.

In the women’s event, HuntBikeWheels.com rider Little earned success in 21-26, ahead of Swindon Wheelers’ Jo Spencer who was 37 seconds further back in 22-03, with the final podium place going to Danuta Tinn of Maidenhead & District in 22-19.

Icknield Road Club used this annual event, featuring 125 riders, to once again raise money for the Keech Cottage Hospice in Luton with just under £1000 raised from yesterday’s event.

This event, run on the F11/10 course, starts on the southbound sliproad to the A41 on the Western Tring junction and proceeds along the A41 until the Eastern Tring junction then reaching the end of the Aston Clinton bypass and taking the third exit off the roundabout and back along the bypass to finish on Buckland slip road.

The organiser Matt Price and Keech Cottage Hospice thank all riders for their help in raising money for such a good cause.
