Rachel Brown was fastest female while Luke Clarke was the quickest man at the Stevenage CC 25-mile time trial on Saturday afternoon. 

In the women’s event, Brown, riding for CC London, completed the course in one hour, one minute and 20 seconds in a dominant win, with RAM CC’s Kate Kirkland second in 1-04-58 and a time of 1-07-28 helping Emma Coppe of CC Ashwell to the final podium spot in third. 

In the men’s event Clarke, riding for TMG Horizon, set 53-54 to beat Team Bottrill’s David Halliday who posted 54-49 for second and Ely and District CC rider Darran Bennett was a further 16 seconds back in third (55-15). 

In the 2-up time trial, which saw riders complete one circuit instead of the two completed by the individual riders making a distance of 12 miles, there was a very close contest for top spot. 

The pairing of Ewan Grady (Team Milton Keynes) and Oswin Grady (Beds Roads RT) took top spot in 31-27, with Grant Osborn (Beds Roads RT) and Deborah Beare (Icknield Road Club) edged into second in 31-35, while Nomads CC pair John Watson and Manuel Manrique took third in 31-42.    

This event, run on the F14/25 course, starts just south of Wrestlingworth crossroads and north of Common Farm then proceeds south to Guilden Morden. A left turn takes riders towards Shingay cum Wendy and Wendy, then turns left onto the B1042 towards Tadlow. The course then bears left at the Wrestlingworth crossroads to Guilden Morden and passing the start. The solo riders repeated the circuit and finishing just south of Common Farm.
