Michael Gill (Saint Piran) took victory in a field full of quality riders, while Louise Robinson (Essex Roads CC) was a convincing winner of the women’s prize in the event in Cambridgeshire on Saturday.
Repeating his win from the same event last year, Gill clocked 18-24 to win by just six seconds from Ashley Cox, the Team Bottrill rider who he beat by 26 seconds in the same Chronos RT event 12 months earlier.
And keeping the same 1-2-3 as last year, Ollie Hucks (Saint Piran) was third again, this time clocking 19-04.
In the women’s event Robinson (Essex Roads CC) clocked 22-57 to win by a minute and a half from Sophie Lankford (Alba Development), while Team Milton Keynes’ Linda Dewhurst was another seven seconds back in third place.
This was Gill’s first open time trial since he was part of the team that finished third at the National Team Time Trial Championships back in May alongside Ollie Hucks and Ross Holland.
Among Gill’s victories this year are the Team Kirkley Cycles 10, the Melton Olympic 10 and the Barnesbury CC 21 in April. He placed second behind Hucks in the Coalville Wheelers 10 back in March.
Robinson has enjoyed some great results this season, and this is just the latest victory in a list which includes winning the Hart Performance Coaching Summer Classic 10 a fortnight ago, the Essex Roads CC 24.8 in July, the Colchester Rovers CC 47 and Maldon & District CC 10 in June as well as the Maldon & Dist CC 50.
The event used the popular F2a/10 course which uses the A428 starting near Hardwick Interchange and heading west to the junction with Ermine Street before retracing past Cambourne.
