Matthew Smith (Drag2zero) secured top spot in the Viking 50-mile the trial near Cambridge, while Kate Allan (Team Bottrill) was the victor in the women’s event.
44-year-old Smith claimed the victory in this event, leading the competition narrowly by just over 30 seconds with a time of 1:39:09.
Clocking 1:39:47 to take second place was Chris McNamara (Nuun-Sigma Sport London RT), while finishing off the podium was Jacob Storey of Partenza-Nude Espresso RT as he completed the 50 miles in 1:43:31.
Smith started his time trial season off in April and since then has won all three events entered, a run now extended to four. He is next in action in the East Anglian VTTA 10 on the 8th June.
In the women’s event it was Kate Allan that comfortable took top spot with a time of 1:45:58, only 22 seconds slower than her personal best over this distance.
Second place was claimed by Lara Thomas (Stowmarket & Dist CC) who clocked 1:58:21. The final podium spot was ridden by Pip Jenkins (1904RT) as she completed the course just over a minute off the pace in 1:59:42.
Allan’s first open time trial event of 22 was back in March and similar to Smith she has also won every event of her season. Six events and six victories, one of which being the fastest overall - in the High Wycombe CC 25 two weeks ago. She seems to be heading back to the RTTC Nationals again this year, where she managed a top 10 finish last October.
