Jacob Storey and Karine Jones were the fastest male and fastest female respectively at the Hitchin Nomads 25-mile time trial on Saturday afternoon.
Storey, riding for Partenza-Nude Espresso RT, clocked 52-25 to finish fastest in the men’s event, just eight seconds ahead of TMG Horizon Cycling Team’s Luke Clarke in 52-33, while clubmate Ross Clarke took third place in 53-27.
In the women’s event a time of 01-05-11 helped Verulam Really Moving’s Karine Jones to victory ahead of Frances Lammyman (Abingdon Race Team) in 01-05-30 and third-placed Emily Varley, riding for the promoting club, who finished in 01-06-18.
The route, on course F14/25, sees the 52-rider field start on the Wrestlingworth-Guilden Morden Road before proceeding south to Guilden Morden and turning left towards Singay cum Wendy, then bearing left onto the roundabout and left again to Tadlow and the crossroads at Wrestlingworth, on towards Guilden Morden, past the start and then repeating the circuit to finish south of the farm entrance.
Storey, 30, rode to his first victory of the season after a second place at the VTTA (Kent group), a third at Finsbury Park CC and another third at Southern Counties CU on May 14.
