Nicholas Fennell (Thanet RC) recorded his sixth win of the season at the VTTA Kent Group 50 on Sunday, while Fay Barrington (Banbury Star Cyclists' Club) won the women’s event.

Fennell, aged 29, recorded a winning time of one hour, 45 minutes and nine seconds which was almost three minutes clear of his rivals.

The Q50/11 saw riders start near Hamstreet before joining the A2070 for the opening out and back section before joining a looped course heading out to Rye and then over to Lydd and New Romney before heading back to Hamstreet for the finish.

Scratch man Fennell also won the Kent CA 10 and Thanet RC 25 on his last two outings and continued his winning form in convincing style.

Joshua Clark (Royal Navy & Royal Marines CA) finished second in the Inter-Service TT Championships 25 in May and had to settle for the runners-up spot again this time out finishing in 1-48-04.

A close battle for third saw Peter Robertson (Backpedal) record a time of 1-52-39 which was a single second faster than quickest veteran on scratch Dean Chiddenton (Abellio - SFA Racing Team).

The best veteran on standard was Nick Wilson (Rye & District Wheelers CC) whose time of 1-55-54 gave the 56-year-old a standard of +27:40.

Meanwhile, the quickest tricycle was Ian Pike (Lincoln Wheelers) who completed the course in 2-11-09.

In the women’s event Barrington took victory with a time of two hours, 10 minutes and 45 seconds.

The 53-year-old was also best woman on standard with her time equating to a standard of +22.43.

Finishing second woman was Rebecca Wilson (Rye & District Wheelers CC) recording a finishing time of 2-13-52.
