Nic Fennell was fastest male while Pip Jenkins earned the fastest female prize in sunny but breezy conditions at the Thanet Road Club 25-mile time trial on Sunday morning.
Fennell, riding for the promoting club, set an unassailable time of 50-45 to take the top prize ahead of Onyx RT rider Jonathan Smith in 54-17, while Fennell’s clubmate Paul Burrows secured third place in 54-57.
VeloRefined Rule 5 rider Mark Hill won the Veteran on Standard category in +13-44, ahead of Smith’s +12-38 and Gary Grayland (CC Bexley) who recorded +12-04.
Jenkins, riding for 1904RT, completed the 25-mile route in 1-00-02 to win the women’s event, with Debbie Percival (Kent Velo Girls/Boys) finishing runner-up in 01-08-28 and VC Deal’s Fiona Howarth completing the podium in 1-12-03.
The event, on course Q25/10, starts just south of St Nicholas-at-Wade and proceeds north on Canterbury Road to turn west at the roundabout and head along A209 towards Herne Bay, encircling at Talmead to retrace the route to the roundabout, then completing another lap of the A209 to finish just past St Nicholas Court Farms.
