There was double delight for 360cycling at Rossendale Road Club’s Crown Point hill climb, as Maxwell Hereward earned victory as fastest male in 2-50.03 with clubmate Nicola Cadwallader finishing as fastest female on the 1000-metre course.
There was more success for 360cycling, with Hereward’s teammate Tom Booth clinching third place in 3-03.05 to finish just behind Chorley Cycling Club’s George Hodgkinson who clocked 2-55.01 to take the runners-up spot.
Cadwallader finished in 4-27.08 to win the women’s event ahead of Lisa Miles (ABC Centreville) who finished in 5-19.09 while a time of 5-53.03 saw Rossendale RC’s Helen Thomas take the final podium spot.
Aidan Worden’s time of 3-16.03 also helped 360cycling to secure the team prize on the day.
A total of 37 riders competed on the day, with competitors enjoying dry weather with a cold westerly wind as the rain held off.
This event, run on the L801 course, starts just off A646 and 150 metres east of Thwaites Coaching House on opposite side of road and ascends the hill to finish at the stile to the golf course near the junction with Crown Point Road, with the climb approximately 1000 metres long with an average gradient of 14 percent.
