David Parkin claimed the men’s title while Esther Hamill was fastest woman at the Border City Wheelers 10-mile time trial on Saturday afternoon.
After setting a time of 20 minutes and five seconds, Parkin secured victory in the event ahead of Beacon Wheelers rider Richard Nesfield who finished in 20-27.
Nesfield finished just a single seconds ahead of Dooleys RT rider Alastair McNicol (20-28), while fourth-placed Mark Pearson (Team ASL-Bolton) was a further two seconds back in 20-30.
This was a 10th podium finish for Nesfield, but he has failed to secure a maiden time trial victory.
Hamill, riding for Dumfries CC, was the quickest woman in 26-38.
Fastest male veteran, aged 40, was Pendle Forest CC’s Paul Braithwaite in 21-05, five seconds ahead of runner-up David Powell of Horwich Cycling Club.
In the veteran 50 age group, Pearson was fastest with promoting club rider Bryan Pool second in 22-01, and veteran 60+ winner was Russ Richardson of Teesdalee CRC in 22-10.
Riders enjoyed good weather with a slight headwind on the return leg alongside a small incline.
This event, run on the L108 course, starts on the A685 and heads west along the A685 along to Tebay before encircling the traffic island and retracing along the same route easterly before finishing just short of the start line on the A685.
