Rachel Orton and David Ashton secured victory at the Preston Wheelers 25-mile time trial in Lancashire on Sunday morning.
Tri Preston’s Orton finished as quickest female in 1-06-19, 23 seconds ahead of nearest rival Theresa Taylor (Springfield Financial Racing Team) in 1-06-19, while Carol Westmorland (Border City Wheelers CC) was close behind in 1-06-59.
In the men’s event, David Ashton (Army Cycling) was victorious in 53-42, more than a minute ahead of Horwich Cycling Club’s David Powell who managed 54-51 and Aiden Heyworth of Directions Racing in 55-58.
After a second place finish at the East Lancashire Road Club 10-mile time trial on May 7 and fifth at Inter Service 25-mile TT Championship on May 22, Ashton now has his first victory of the season.
This event, run on the L2521A course, starts in Church Lane and proceeds North East to Winmarleigh, into Broad Lane towards the junction with B5272 where a left turn takes the riders along the B5272 to the junction with A588 at Cockerham.
Competitors continue along the A588 to Stakepool and turn left into Garstang Road and onto Cogie Hill then into Island Lane through the start and on to complete circuit a second time, then at the end of the second lap, pass the start area and finish 80 yards further along Church Lane.
