Timothy Torrie (trainSharp Development Team) and Ian Short (Team Salesengine.co.uk) were the fastest pairing finishing over a minute clear of their competitors at the Hainault RC 25 two-up team time trial.
Torrie has had a good season individually taking six wins and partnered veteran Short for the season-ending event with the pair covering the 25-mile course in 53 minutes and 28 seconds.
The E91/25 course saw riders start and finish near Leaden Roding, heading north on the B184 on the first out and back leg turning at Great Dunmow. Passing through the start and finish just before the halfway point competitors then continued south-easterly on the A1060 to Chelmsford before making the return journey back to the start.
Short, aged 49, joined 22-year-old Torrie and the pairing suited each other well recording an average speed of over 28 miles per hour.
The veteran pair of Stuart Hourigan and Kevin Tye, representing VeloRefined Rule 5, led the chase behind finishing second in 54-33.
Completing the podium positions were the Harworth and District Cycling Club pair of Alex Carley and Alexander Speirs stopping the clock in 55-15 for third place.
The mixed gender pairing of Julia Freeman and Terry Garlinge (Easterley Road Club) put in a respectable ride of 1-02-48 which was good enough for eighth place overall on the day.
The only female pairing was of veteran Elspeth Knott and under-23 rider Jodi Thomas (Colchester Rovers CC) with the pair completing the course in a finishing time of 1-16-13.
