David Harding (Chelmer CC) claimed top spot in the Elite CC 10-mile time trial near Chelmsford, while Susan Triplow (Sudbury CC) was the fastest in the women’s event.
Harding set the pace in the men’s event, going over 40 second quicker than any other rider on the day with a time of 21:32.
Coming in second was Sam Wightman (Team Bottrill) who clocked 22:13 and finishing third fastest was Peter Robertson (Backpedal) who he completed the course in 22:28.
For Harding this was his first win of the season at the third time of asking. In his first open time trial of 2022 he narrowly missed out on a podium finish and this was the closest he had been since, taking the win over the 10 mile course.
In the women’s event it was Susan Triplow who clocked in at 26:06 to claim the top spot.
Second spot was taken by Ann Shuttleworth (Cambridge CC) who completed the course in 27:31, and just slower than her was Karen Aylen (Maldon & Dist CC) with a time of 27:49 to finish off the podium.
Triplow has participated in three open events this year, finishing on the podium for one and winning here. Her podium finish came in April at the Shaftesbury CC 25. She can next be seen in action at the VTTA East Anglian 10 next week where she can look to build on the win at this event.
The E91/10 course is an out and back course beginning in Leaden Roding and passing through Roundbush Green and High Roding via the B184 before turning back just short of Great Dunmow and heading back for home.
