Ben Lloyd (Fibrax Wrexham RC) took a clear victory by over three minutes in the West Cheshire Time Trial Association 25, while Gwyneth Parry (Paramount CRT) was a clear winner in the women’s event.
Lloyd, aged 31, was on fine form with a season’s best 25-mile winning time of 51 minutes and 12 seconds.
The D25/23T saw competitors start and finish near Tern Hill in Shropshire before completing an out and back course along the A53 to Hodnet and then A442 to Shawbirch before making the return journey.
Lloyd recorded an average speed of over 29.2 miles per hour on his way to taking a fourth victory of the season.
On the same course in July Lloyd finished fourth in the Chester Road Club 25 posting a time of 52-31, he beat that time by over a minute on his way to victory this time out.
A three-way fight for second place was led by veteran Mark Lovatt (Congleton CC – MyWindsock) who stopped the clock in 54-19.
A further 11 seconds back was fellow veteran Mark Parsons (Team ASL-Bolton) who stopped the clock in 54-30 which was 10 seconds quicker than Victor Chetta (Mid Shropshire Wheelers) who posted 54-40.
Spindata had predicted a win for Lloyd out of those starters in 51-44 but in reality he was 32 seconds quicker than that prediction.
Under-23 rider Parry took her first ever opening victory in the women’s event recording a winning time of one hour, three minutes and 14 seconds.
In her only other open outing Parry finished second in the Fibrax Wrexham RC 24 but she went one better this time out.
Veteran Helen Tudor (Oswestry Paragon CC) was the only other woman starter finishing second in 1-07-41.
