Tomos Hales (Wrekinsport CC) was the fastest rider in the Wrekinsport 10-mile time trial in Shropshire, while in the women’s event the victor was Deb Hutson-Lumb also of the promoting club.
Hales took his first win of the season completing the 10-mile course in a personal best time of 21 minutes and eight seconds despite hot conditions.
In second was Dean Callister (Revolutions Racing) who clocked 21-18 and filling the final podium spot was Tim Beardmore (Bridgnorth CC) who finished the course in 21-35.
This marked a first victory and the third podium of the season for Hales, his first podium of the season also came in a Wrekinsport CC event, though in an 18-mile event placing third.
Following that he had a second placed finish in the Mid Shropshire Wheelers 50 a couple months back, but he took top spot this time out.
In the women’s event Deb Hutson-Lumb went fastest clocking a time of 23 minutes and 40 seconds.
Following her time and denying Wrekinsport CC of a clean sweep was Helen Tudor of Oswestry Paragon CC, she clocked in at 27-01. While finishing third was Victoria Doran of the promoting club, completing the course in 28-59.
After a trio of consecutive podium finishes Hutson-Lumb moved up from second to first having just missed out prior to this event. This year she finished in the top 10 at the National 10-mile Championships.
She has continued to carry that form on throughout the year with an array of podium finishes.
This event marked the 100-year anniversary for promoting club Wrekinsport CC.
