Grant Bigham (WattShop) and Keri Parton (Team Boompods) powered to victory at the Shropshire CCA 10-mile time trial near Waters Upton on Saturday afternoon.
Bigham, 32, clocked 19-41 to ease to overall victory by 26 seconds from David Williams (Velotik Racing Team), while third spot went to Peter Lindfield (Tactic Sport UK Race Team) with 21-04.
And 33-year-old Parton clocked 22-37 to take the win in the women’s category by 1-14 from Wrekinsport CC rival Deb Hutson-Lumb, while Helen Tudor (Oswestry Paragon CC) was third fastest female, almost four minutes behind Parton’s pace.
Hutson-Lumb was fastest veteran on standard being 6-17 above her expected standard, which gave her victory in that category by just two seconds from Joe Costello (Legato Racing Team), with David Williams adding to second place by finishing as third fastest veteran on standard.
Starting just north of Waters Upton, the event used the D10/23r course which heads up the A442 to the Hodnet bypass and back south.
This was win number four in open time trialling this season for Bigham, having been victorious in the West Cheshire TTCA 30 in May, the VTTA East Midlands 25 and the Kent Valley RC charity 10 in June.
He will be targeting more glory at the Wrekinsport CC 10 next weekend, and also hopes to take victory at the North Shropshire Wheelers 25 two weeks after that.
Parton will be pleased to take an open time trial victory more than four months since her last win at the Crewe Clarion Wheelers 14-mile event in March, although since then she has finished second at the Port Sunlight Wheelers 10 and Burton and District CA 25, as well as third at round two of the Merlin Cycles Classic Series in April.
