There were some fast times recorded at the Mid-Shropshire Wheelers 50-mile time trial, where Toby Williams took overall victory in an impressive 1-50-55, while Emma Serjeant was quickest of the women.
Williams, the 29-year-old Velotik RT rider from Ruthin, was almost six minutes quicker than his nearest rival Tomos Hales (Wrekinsport CC) with 1-56-48 while the final podium place went to Richard Gadsden (Liverpool Braveheart BC) with 1-59-29.
Meanwhile the fastest woman Emma Serjeant, the 42-year-old Hafren CC rider, clocked 2-12-56 to win that prize by around seven minutes from Hannah Fawcett (Liverpool Braveheart BC) while Wrekinsport CC’s Bethan Till was third with 2-23-02.
The event took place on a circuit near Prees, heading from the start in Prees north onto the A41 before turning back south through Tilstock and down towards Edstaston before looping back east to the finish south of Prees.
This was Williams’ fourth win of the season so far in open CTT events, having also been victorious in last month’s Cleveland Wheelers hilly 25 as well as the Manchester and District TTA 10 in March and the Frodsham Wheelers two-up 22 alongside team-mate David Williams.
Fastest female Serjeant was making it three out of three open events so far this season, having been victorious at the West Cheshire TTA and Shropshire CCA 30-mile event on May 8 as well as in the Mid-Shropshire Wheelers 25 last month.
She is next due to be in action at the Sportzmad 25 in South Wales next Sunday, as well as the Chester Road Club 25 the following Sunday.
