Birkenhead North End’s 20-mile time trial saw Ben Lloyd and Leah Dixon finish fastest male and female respectively in Cheshire on Friday morning.
Lloyd led a successful day for the Fibrax-Wrexham CC with the 30-year-old finishing in 45-03 to narrowly edge out clubmate Benjamin Goodfellow who was 12 seconds back in 45-15, while Matthew Wales rounded out the top three in 45-37.
In the women’s event, Bianchi HUNT Morvélo’s Dixon clocked 48-40, with Frances Owen (Fibrax Wrexham RC) second in 53-54 and a time of 55-11 enough for Laura Gray of Total Tri Training to finish third.
After opening his 2022 season with a fourth place at Frodsham Wheelers CC’s time trial on March 19, Lloyd claimed victory on the same course just under a month later.
Starting in Broxton, the 22-mile D22/1 course then heads south past Broxton Wood and Edge Green and continues along the A41 before reaching Grindley Brook and looping back north along the Whitchurch Bypass, through Horning and gently heading west at Ridley to finish on the A534.
