Espoir George Wood (Cycling Sheffield) clocked a new personal best on his way to victory at the Rotherham Wheelers 10-mile time trial in South Yorkshire on Saturday.
Wood, who celebrated his 20th birthday in the week before this event, marked the occasion with a strong performance and a first open win of 2022.
In second place was Nicholas Cousins (Ilkeston CC) who completed the 10-mile course in 21:47, and taking the final podium spot was Eddie Humphreys (Moda RT) who managed a time of 22:28 to beat Nelson by two seconds.
As previously mentioned this was the first win of the season for Wood whose only other 2022 appearance so far was in the City Road Club 25 in Hull in May where he finished second.
The O10/1 course is an out and back course beginning at Hatfield Woodhouse and heading south down the A614. The riders turn back at Blaxton and head north back to finish.
An interesting family competition took place for a top six finish as father and son Jymmy and Will Trevor of Jem Hadar Racing fought it out with 50-year-old Jymmy able to get the better of his 18-year-old son, finishing with times of 23:39 and 25:45 respectfully.
