Veteran rider Ian Guilor (Mapperley CC) took a clear victory by 55 seconds in the Team Sheffield 10, while Josie Smith (Trek Sheffield) was the women’s winner near Cuckney, Nottinghamshire.

Despite having a host of podium positions to his name it was Guilor’s first victory since June 2019 clocking a time of 21 minutes and 35 seconds.

The O10/5 saw riders start near Meden Vale before heading north on the A60 to near Worksop and then making the return journey.

Riders faced a strong headwind on the outward leg meaning they had to pace their effort for the fast return home.

Guilor finished second in the Sleaford Wheelers 10 last weekend but went one better this time out recording an average speed of over 27.7 miles per hour on his way to victory.

Fellow veteran Andy Turner (Team Sheffield) led the chase behind finishing in second place in 22-34.

A close battle for the remaining podium place saw Ryan Crawley (Out of the Saddle CC) finish third in 22-51 which was just seven seconds quicker than Tom Parsons (Team Jewson - MI Racing) in 22-58.

Spindata had predicted a win for Guilor in 20-52 but a strong wind meant times were slower and in reality he was 43 seconds down on that time.

Para-cyclist Krispin Gardiner (PDQ Cycle Coaching) finished a respectable 10th overall completing the course in 24-06.

The quickest juvenile was Thomas Lindley (Team Sheffield) who finished in 26-33.

In the women’s event Smith, aged 36, from Barnsley, recorded her first victory of the season in a time of 24-05.

Smith had finished second on three occasions this season but finally got the win she desired recording an average speed of over 24.9 miles per hour.

She was the only woman finisher.
