Jude Taylor earned a second hill climb win of the season at Matlock CC’s event on Bank Road, with Emilie Verroken sealing success in the women’s event in the Derbyshire town on Sunday afternoon.
Team PB Performance’s Taylor, who had already finished third in Matlock CC’s Riber hill climb earlier that day, was fastest up the 0.4-mile climb in 1-55.8, beating runner-up Ryan Oldham (Reading CC) who clocked 1-59.4 while Kit Buchanan of Solihull CC managed 2-04.5 to seal the last podium spot.
Taylor will now turn his focus to the National Hill Climb Championships on the Old Horseshoe Pass on Sunday, having enjoyed an encouraging hill climb season with three wins from eight races as well as three third-placed finishes and two runners-up positions, to follow a string of early-season time trial successes.
There was success for Verroken in the women’s event, the Team lifting Gear Products ending the race in 2-46.7 with Becky Hair (Team Watto) following up her Riber Hill Climb success with a second place in 2-51.1, while Rebecca Lineker (Velo Bavarian) took third place in 2:58.6
This event, run on the AHC/6 course, starts at the bus shelter just above Imperial Road in Matlock and climbs up Bank Road, continuing into Rutland Street to finish by the wall just above Matlock Green Garage.
