Stuart Wells and Ellen Inglis were fastest male and fastest female respectively at the Witham Wheelers 10-mile time trial on Saturday afternoon.
In dry conditions with broken clouds but battling strong crosswinds, Lindsey Roads CC rider Wells set a time of 21-19 to take victory ahead of Ian Guilor of Mapperly CC and Wells’ clubmate Keith Ainsworth who were joint second in 21-33.
In the women’s event Inglis, riding for Brother UK–Team OnForm, finished in 25-49 which was just six seconds ahead of closest rival Elaine Simpson from Sherwood CC in 25-56, while Evgeniya Righini-Brand (Sleaford Wheelers CC) was third in 26-31.
Ainsworth enjoyed a very successful day, following up his joint runners-up spot with finishing as fastest veteran on standard in +6-40, and helping Lindsey Roads CC to the team prize alongside Wells and Anthony Nash.
This 10-mile event, run on the C10/10 course, starts on the A15 Sleaford bypass and proceeds south through Osbournby and then encircles the roundabout to retrace along the A15 and finishes just short of the start line.
