Aylesbury 10 wins for Dewhurst and Newbould

Josh Newbould and Linda Dewhurst were named fastest male and fastest female respectively in the time trial category at the Aylesbury CC 10-mile on Sunday morning, while Jack Samways was quickest on a road bike.

Banbury Star CC rider Newbould clocked 20-31 on his way to victory, 20 seconds ahead of clubmate Josh Lovell in 20-51, with Lee Valley Youth CC’s Alfie Salmon was third in 21-19.

In the women’s event, Dewhurst (Team Milton Keynes) took victory in 25-07, comfortably ahead of runner-up Sarah Brydon, with the Berkhamsted Cycling Club member finishing in 26-54 and the final podium place going to Willesden CC’s Gillian Reynolds in 27-53.

In the road bike category, Watford Velo’s Samways finished 50 seconds clear of the field in 22-27 with Dave Dent (GS Stella) back in second in 23-17 and third place sealed by James Conolly of Stevenage CC in 23-40 – just three seconds faster than VeloElite RC’s Michael Burke.

Emily Proud, of Grinta Coaching, took home the road bike prize for fastest woman in 24-40.

The event, on course HCC202A, starts on Thame Road and heads south-eastwards through Longwick, turning at the roundabout on the A4129 and retracing the course back through Longwick and Kingsey, turning again to head towards the finish on Thame Road just east of the start line.
