Henrik Persson (Fulfil the Potential Race Team) took his first victory of the season in style at the Reading CC 25, while Eva Callinan (AWOL O’Shea Worx) won the women’s event by a single second in Berkshire.

Persson, aged 38, set a winning time of 51 minutes and 37 seconds which was enough for victory by a minute and 23 seconds.

The H25/1A saw riders start at Theale-Englefield Airstrip on the A4 before heading across to Thatcham before the return trip to Theale with riders completing two laps of the out and back course.

Persson, who also won the Westerley CC 25 last season, started as scratch man and recorded a season’s best time of 51-37 which was easily enough for victory and winning the Clive Pugh Memorial Plate.

Quickest veteran Jeremy Redford (Army Cycling) finished second in 53-00 while Adrian Ford (Team Bottrill) completed the podium positions finishing third (53-29).

Best veteran aged 60-69 was Gregory Woodford in 56-43 who led Reading CC to the team award alongside Dan Clipston and Will Salisbury.

The quickest tandem pair was tricycle pair Mark Vowells (Lincoln Wheelers CC) and Ian Pike (San Fairy Ann CC) with the pair clocking 58-02.

The women’s category could not have been closer with Callinan setting the fastest time of 59-37 which was a single second faster than Emma O'Toole (Nopinz Motip Race Team).

Callinan, aged 18, took her first victory of the season by the smallest of margins.

A close battle for third saw Liffey Daniels (360VRT) finishing in 1-03-38 which was just 15 seconds quicker than Anna Carter (Newbury Velo).

In the road bike category host club rider Will Salisbury was the only rider to beat the hour mark taking victory in 59-10.

Bob Richardson (Bournemouth Jubilee Whs) finished second in 1-00-07 while Paul Callinan (London Dynamo) completed the podium positions in third (1-01-49).

Quickest road bike woman was Anna Carter (Newbury Velo) in 1-03-53 who finished ahead of Cyndi Goh (Reading CC) who was the only other woman in 1-12-21.
