Chris McNamara (Nuun-Sigma Sport-London RT) was the fastest man in the Farnham Road Club 10-mile time trial, while Michelle Lock (GS Stella) was the winner of the women’s event on Sunday morning.
Veteran rider McNamara headed the field in 19:49, the only rider on the day to go under 20 minutes.
In second place was junior Alex Franks (VC de Londres) who at 16 is 31 years younger than McNamara. Franks managed the distance in 20:20, while third place went to Joe Parker (Racing Club Ravenna) as he was 12 seconds further off the pace finishing in 20:32.
Of the eight events McNamara had participated in this year prior to this he’s won seven of them, finishing second in the one that he did not win which was the Cambridge CC 50 two days earlier.
His next event is scheduled to be the National 25 next weekend where he cracked the top 15 last year.
In the women’s event it was Michelle Lock that came out on top, completing the course in 28:26.
Second place was Danielle Millar (Hart Veloce) who clocked a time of 32:45 to finish off the women’s podium. Due to the drizzly and cold conditions there were a higher percentage of non-finishers than usual.
This was the first event of the year for Lock who has only ridden four open time trials since the end of 2019.
