Allan and Wilson take victories at High Wycombe CC 25
Kate Allan (Team Bottrill) was the fastest rider overall and the women’s winner at the High Wycombe CC 25, while Mat Wilson (VTTA (London & Home Counties) was the quickest man.
Allan, from nearby Maidenhead, set a winning time of 52 minutes and 11 seconds which was 29 seconds faster than any other rider on the day and six minutes quicker than her nearest woman rival.
It was the 37-year-olds fifth women’s victory of the season from as many events and first time she has beaten all the men as well.
Allan is also the first woman rider to win the Wilkinson Sword Trophy which has been awarded to the quickest rider in their event by High Wycombe CC since 1979 with previous winners including Eddie Adkins, Stuart Dangerfield, Chris Boardman and Michael Hutchinson.
The H25/2 saw riders start outside High Wycombe before heading south on the A404 down to Maidenhead before heading westerly on the A4 to Twyford before making the return journey back to the start/finish.
Conditions were ideal for fast times with a still wind speed and a warm temperature.
A close battle behind Allan in the women’s event saw High Wycombe CC team-mates Helen Roby and Dena Ford battle it out with Roby taking second in 58-17 and Ford in third (59-51).
In the men’s even Wilson took victory recording a winning time of 52-40 which was 54 seconds faster than his nearest rival.
A close battle for second was won by Jeff Roberts (High Wycombe CC) whose time of 53-34 was three seconds faster than Rob Parry (Crystal Palace Triathletes).
