Stuart-Smith and House taste early season wins
Karen Stuart-Smith (Cowley Road Condors) and Stewart House (Arctic Aircon RT) tasted early-season victories last weekend, finishing as fastest female and male riders at the first of three road bike 10-mile time trials being staged by Arctic Aircon RT in Berkshire on Sunday morning.
Stuart-Smith, 60, clocked 33-42 to take the prize for the fastest female over the H10/1c course near Aldermaston, which starts near Woolhampton and heads up the A4 Bath Road to Theale before turning back and finishing past the start near Midgham.
Overall fastest and setting off number one was organiser Stewart House who covered the course in 22-28 to secure his first open victory since 2017. He crossed the line 1-12 ahead of Matt Jarvis (Cowley Road Condors CC), while third was Peter Oliver (Zero BC) with 25-09.
Though the weather was sunny and bright the riders didn’t have it all their own way, with a nagging crosswind making conditions tough for all.
