McDonald and Creamer triumphant in Northampton & Dist CA 10
Sam McDonald (St Neots CC) was the fastest rider in the Northampton & District CA 10-mile time trial on Saturday, while Lauren Creamer (Velo Fixers) was the winner of the women’s event.
32-year-old McDonald rode the ten miles in 22:25 to claim the top podium spot. Second place was Jamie Murray (Peterborough CC) who rode a 22:34 and another 30 seconds off the pace was third placed Kevin Hobbs of the same team.
Of the five rides he had completed prior to this event McDonald had not finished outside of the top four, having a first, second and third place finish to his name as well as two fourth placed finishes. The latter of which was his first victory of the year at the Northampton & Dist. CA 15 and he built on that in this event, claiming back-to-back wins.
In the women’s event it was Lauren Creamer that rode the fastest time, 24:15 being her time.
Filling the remaining two spaces in the women’s top three were Bethany Spencer (Kettering CC) and Maria Gent also of Kettering CC. Their times were 26:37 and 28:07 respectively.
30-year-old Creamer had finished on the podium in all of her previous three open events, having one win and a second and third over the past two months. The latter of those results was a third place in the Stafford RC 10.
The winning team in this event was the Peterborough CC who clocked a combined time of 1:10:27 between Jamie Murray, Kevin Hobbs and Mark Tomlinson.
