Steven Riley was fastest male while Abi Plowman clinched fastest female at Edinburgh Road Club’s hill climb up Arthur’s Seat on Sunday morning.
Ronde Cycling Club’s Riley clocked 2-47 to secure victory ahead of Barry McColl, from Peebles Cycling Club, who finished eight seconds back in 2-55, while third spot was secured in 2-59 by Joe Agnew riding for Gala CC.
In the women’s event, Plowman, from Kendal Cycle Club, dominated the field in 3-13 to win by more than 20 seconds from North Argyll CC member Rachel Hardman in 3-35, while a time of 4-22 earned Amy Addlesee the final podium place.
Elsewhere, Oswald Ling was named fastest junior after the promoting club rider finished in 3-28, while his clubmate Hamish Mayes was quickest in the juvenile category with a time of 3-39, and fastest host club competitor went to Ruben Villalain in 3-12.
This event, run on the WE1/03 course, sees riders start at the bottom of the Arthur’s Seat High Road and summit the famous Arthur’s Seat in Holyrood Park.
