Chris Smart was fastest male at the Ayr Roads Pennyglen Hilly TT, while Beth Macrae earned success for the promoting club as quickest woman on Thursday evening.
GTR – Return To Life p/b Streamline rider Smart, aged 41, completed a dominant win with a time of 32 minutes and 21 seconds, finishing ahead of team-mate Marc Anderson in 34-07, while Vanelli-Project GO rider Jesse Dawson clinched third in 34-51.
This marks a third successive win for Smart, after winning the Springfield Financial Racing Team 10-mile time trial on August 13 and the Ayr Roads CC 31.5-mile time trial last month.
In the women’s event, Macrae produced an assured performance to win by over four minutes completing the course in 40 minutes and 20 seconds.
Jude Patterson (Ayr Burners Cycling) led the chase behind finishing second in 44-34 and Zosia Martin (Torvelo Racing) took the final podium spot in 45-31.
This event, being run on the WW15/02, starts at lamp No R5 opposite the entrance to Eglinton Country Park and follows the A78 south under two interchanges to turn at Dundonald Camp roundabout, before retracing to finish on slip road at Eglinton interchange.
