Harvey Weinberger (AS Test Team) claimed the top spot in the Oxford University CC hill climb event, while Kaitlyn Dennis (Oxford University CC) was the winner of the women’s event.
21-year-old Weinberger went out as the scratch-man and lived up to expectations as he clocked in over 20 seconds quicker than anybody else on the day. He completed the course in 3:22.8.
Finishing second quickest was Cam McLaren (Nopinz Motip RT), he clocked in 3:47.4. Securing the final podium position was Alexander Herd (CC London), he completed his ride in 3:55.8.
A non-starter in last year’s National Championships, Weinberger is entered again for the 2021 title race. He is going into the event with three wins in his last three events, hopefully he can carry the form and momentum in and secure an impressive ride and compete with the best at the top.
In the women’s event it was Kaitlyn Dennis that was quickest, riding a time of 4:59.1 to secure her place on top of the podium.
Katrina Tse (Oxford University CC) took second place, clocking a time of 5:06.2. Jennifer Carter (Team Cetenary) was the rider that took the final available podium spot with a time of 5:22.5.
This was only the second event of the year for 27-year-old Dennis, thus being her first podium finish and her first win.
