Andy Critchlow (Norwood Paragon CC) and Laura Paine (Socks4Watts Race Team) took the men’s and women’s victories in the Farnham Road Club 25 event for middle and long-markers.

Veteran rider Critchlow came into the event after a win in the Bec CC 25 and was again victor on this occasion in a time of 52 minutes and 32 seconds.

The objective of the ‘middle-markers’ event was to ensure that the slower riders got to ride on the H25/8 and the event attracted a field of 62 riders.

The H25/8 saw riders complete two laps of an out and back course between the start at Farnham and along the A31 to Alton.

Riders were greeted by a sunny morning and a light breeze which helped many set fast times.

Critchlow recorded a 52-26 in his win last weekend and despite being slightly slower on this occasion his time was enough for victory.

Early starter Robert Durnford (Paceline RT) beat his open personal best time by over two minutes to take second place in 53-14.

Veteran Stuart Hourigan (34 Nomads CC) was locked in a close battle for third with his time of 54-14 just four seconds quicker than Michael Nagi (Wokingham Cycling Club).

In the women’s event Paine took victory at her first attempt riding an open 25 recording a time of 1-03-15.

Paine’s previous best result was a seventh-place finish in the bike-pace 50 but she topped the times this time out.

Ali Walters (Velo Club Godalming & Haslemere) finished second in the …a3crg Glorious Goodwood Circuit 11.8 in June and repeated that result clocking 1-06-09.

Gemma Hayes (1904RT) completed the podium positions placing third in 1-08-46.
