Steven Parsonage (Richardsons-Trek RT) continued his impressive start to the season on tough courses by winning the Richmond CC 23.5, while Sarah Cramoysan won the women’s event for the hosting club.
Parsonage, from Durham, has already won the Bishop Auckland 40.3 mountain time trial and Cleveland Whls hilly 25 this season.
The 25-year-old covered the 23.5 miles in a winning time of 54 minutes and 19 seconds, over a minute faster than professional rider Harry Tanfield (Team Qhubeka Assos) who was on a road bike.
Bank Holiday traffic in the Yorkshire Dales made for a busy ride on the T243 which starts and finishes near Richmond.
Competitors were treated to perfect conditions with little wind as they headed out on the A6108 before joining the B6270 to Grinton.
Riders then completed the day’s main climb up Grinton Moor 10 miles into the event ascending steeply out of the village before winding up the moor.
After completing the climb riders looked to make up lost time on the descent back to join the A6108 back into Richmond.
Scratch rider Tanfield won the Hartlepool CC 10 last weekend clocking a time of 19-44 and was quickest road bike on this occasion 55-32.
Marcel Schubert (Darlington Cycling Club) was second in the Hartlepool CC 10 last weekend and was runner-up in the time trial category in 55-44 while John Russell (Team Bikestop Tyrekey) was third (57-31).
Former National Hill Climb Champion Ed Laverack (Backpedal) continued his early season with fourth overall and second road bike in 56-31 while Adam Pinder (PM Racing UK) was third (59-08).
Fastest junior was John Russell (Team Bikestop Tyrekey) whose time of 57-31 was good enough for fifth place overall while Andrew Lunn (Richmond CC) was quickest juvenile in 1-07-59.
Rob Carter (Cleveland Wheelers CC) was quickest veteran despite riding a road bike while Colin Atkinson (Muckle Cycle Club) was fastest veteran 50+.
Meanwhile, veteran rider Cramoysan brought home a victory for host club Richmond CC in the women’s event.
Cramoysan was pushed into second in the Bishop Auckland CC mountain time trial earlier this month but went one better on this occasion clocking 1-12-40.
Richmond CC recorded a one-two with fellow veteran Stephanie Stephenson taking second just 31 seconds back in 1-13-11 while Claire Jessop (Otley CC) completed the podium positions in 1-15-48.
Meanwhile, first girl was Sophie Heighton (Ferryhill Whs) who completed the course in 1-23-14.
