Darren Yarwood (Chapeau! Vive Le Velo) took his second victory in a row in the Yorkshire Cycling Federation 100, while Ruth Astle (Ful-On Tri) won the women’s event by over five minutes.

Veteran Yarwood won the Cleveland Coureurs/VTTA North 25 last weekend and showed his endurance over the longer distance to win this time out in three hours, 50 minutes and 39 seconds.

The V270 saw riders complete four and three-quarter laps of the A168 course between Boroughbridge, Walshford and Kirk Deighton in Yorkshire.

Yarwood finished 17th in the National 100 Mile Championships last month posting a time of 3-40-24 and despite being 10 minutes slower on this occasion his time was enough for victory.

Fellow veteran Nick Tarmey (Velo Club Venta) provided a challenge for Yarwood finishing two minutes and 33 seconds down in 3-53-12.

Meanwhile, Philip Kennell (GS Metro) completed the podium positions covering the course in a finishing time of 3-56-48.

In the women’s event Astle was taking part in her first open time trial of the season after placing third in last year’s National 100 Mile Championships on her last outing.

Astle’s winning time of 4-11-26 was enough for a clear victory beating veteran rider Fiona Sharp (Chapeau! Vive Le Velo) into second in 4-17-05.

Hannah Saitch (Whittlefit Performance) was taking part in her second open time trial of the season and finished third in 4-25-52.
