James Gelsthorpe (Velo-one Cycling Club) claimed overall victory in the Witham Wheelers 10-mile time trial in Lincolnshire, while Charlotte Parnham (Storey Racing) was fastest female.

Gelsthorpe clocked 20:16 to secure his first win of the season, which is his fastest time in the last three seasons. His personal best being 19:09, set back in 2017.

Having only raced three times over the 10-mile distance this season, Gelsthorpe has progressively gotten quicker, going nearly a full minute quicker this time out than last month at the Bourne Wheelers 10, where he set a time of 21:07.

Jacob Storey (Partenza-Nude Espresso RT) 20:23 and Karl Baillie (Witham Wheelers) 20:57 filled the remaining spots on the podium.

Storey – who set a 10-mile personal best last week - was impressive again this time out, going only five seconds slower on this ride, improving his position from fourth to second.

Baillie finished in third, making this his highest placed finish of the season.

The fastest veteran on the day was Chris Ward, who finished in 21:20 and finished fourth overall in the men’s event. Brothers Reece and Adam Egner followed with times of 21:22 and 21:49, Adam being the quickest Espoir to participate in the event, finishing 27 seconds behind his sibling.

Charlotte Parnham (Storey Racing) clocked in at 23:21, a personal best over ten miles which was accordingly rewarded with a top of the podium finish for the first time this season.

Two veterans - Harriet Orridge and Julie Clark, both of the Witham Wheelers team - topped off the podium, setting times of 26:37 and 27:32 respectively. Times which saw both riders set new 10-mile personal bests.

Orridge set the quickest time for a female veteran in the event.

The C10/10 course begins on the A15 and continues south, passing through Osbournby before turning for home near the junction with the A52.
