Marcel Schubert (Darlington Cycling Club) powered his way to victory in the Stockton Wheelers 25-mile time trial near Northallerton, while Emma Matthews (Sowerby Sunday Club) was in form to win the women's event.
39-year-old Schubert clocked a new personal best over 25 miles to win the event, finishing with a time of 49:11. Behind Schubert was Ben Pease (Moonglu CC) who came in at 49:56 and third was Mark Wolstenholme (Swift Racing) who secured the final spot on the podium with a time of 50:41.
In the women’s event it was Emma Matthews that claimed top spot, clocking in at 1:02:36 to secure back-to-back victories.
She was followed by Sarah Foulds (Velo Culture) who finished with a time of 1:03:05 and third was Louise Hamilton (The Bike Rack CC) who clocked a time of 1:04:33.
Schubert continued an impressive run which has seen him win four open events this year, as well as finishing on the podium for the vast majority of those that he did not win. This was only Pease's second event of the year but he finished in an impressive second, the same as his last time out which was over the 10-mile distance.
40-year-old Foulds was the fastest veteran in the women's event, she claimed second overall just as she did a week ago in the Darlington CC 10-mile time trial.
Wolstenholme was the fastest veteran on the day, continuing his own run of form which has seen him finish on the podium three times this season as well as placing in the top ten of every event that he has participated in during 2021.
The T252/3 out and back course begins near Crathorne and heads south down the A19 before circling near Hillside Rural Activity Park and heading back towards the finish.
