John Mulvey

John Mulvey (UpShift Nutrition Race Team) took his second win of the season in the Aylesbury CC 10, while Linda Dewhurst (Team Milton Keynes) won the women’s event by 14 seconds.

Mulvey, from Oxford, clocked a winning time of 20 minutes and six seconds which was 38 seconds clear of his nearest rival.

The 28-year-old also won the Swindon Road Club & Swindon Wheelers 50 on his last outing last month and was again in top spot on this occasion.

The HCC202 saw riders compete on the A4129 on an out and back course between Thame and Longwick.

The forecasted bad weather failed to materialise, and a crosswind meant that times were not badly impacted.

Mulvey’s time of 20-06 denied Jack Roe a second victory of the season with the London Dynamo rider finishing runner-up in 20-44.

George Skinner (Primera-Teamjobs) has also won two events this year but had to settle for third this time out in 20-52.

Quickest veteran on scratch was Gareth Williams (Twickenham CC) in 21-27 which was good enough for fifth place overall.

Stan Nwaka (Verulam CC) was second veteran on scratch in 23-13 while Steven Gordon-Head (Kingston Wheelers CC) was third in the age category clocking 24-13.

In the women’s event veteran rider Dewhurst was pushed all the way but her time of 24-42 was enough for victory by 14 seconds.

On her last outing Dewhurst clocked 23-14 which saw her placed eighth in the Chronos RT 10.

Her time on this occasion was good enough for a first win of the season narrowly beating Jayne Paine (Les Filles Racing Team) into second (24.56) while Gillian Reynolds (Willesden CC) finished in third (28.22).

In the road bike category Andy Taylor (Royal Air Force Cycling Association) snatched victory by a mere two seconds.

Taylor clocked a time of 22-28 to take his first open victory in his third event.

Veteran Rob Fletcher (JCA Equipe Velo) finished just two seconds down in 22-30 while Huseyin Vardal (Gemini BC) finished third (22-59).

Claire Smith (High Wycombe CC) was the only woman riding in the road bike category and covered the course in 27-03.
