Marcel Schubert (Darlington CC) took the top spot in the Bramley Wheelers 25-mile time trial, while Josie Smith (Barnsley RC) was the winner of the women’s event near Thirsk in North Yorkshire.
40-year-old Schubert clocked in at 49:57 and was the only rider of the day to finish the course under 50 minutes, going at least 30 seconds faster than any other rider.
50:28 was the time of second placed rider Richard Sharp (Chapeau! Vive Le Velo), trailing was Keith Murray (DRAG2ZERO) who completed the course in 50:57 to secure the final podium spot.
The popular V236/1 course leads riders up the A168 starting at Topcliffe and passing through Thirsk before turning and heading for home.
In the women’s event it was 36-year-old Josie Smith that came out in top spot in a time of 56:13 which was enough to fend off any competition as the closest competitor was over a minute slower.
Louise Scupham (Liv AWOL) was the second placed woman, riding the course in 57:28 which put her ahead of Sarah Harrison (Sheffield Triathlon Club) who clocked in at 59:32 to complete the podium.
56:13 was a new personal best for Smith over 25 miles as she secured her fourth win of the month in as many rides. An unbeatable September for the Yorkshire based rider.
Vector Racing’s Ellis Murray was fastest junior with 56-24, giving him the win in that category by 45 seconds from Xavier Teece-Round (Innovation Racing), while Amy Loftus (East Bradford CC) was fastest female junior in 1-02-26.
